"Capturing the Human Spirit" by Margaret Apau of Borneo Post, Sunday Postmag (Personality), pg 3-4, 20 May 2007.
When asked for a rough time-line of his life, Robert Raymer didn’t start with the date of his birth - he started with the year 1978 - the year he graduated from Miami University and promptly decided that he would take a chance and see the world.
Growing up in Pennsylvania and living a fairly average, normal life, the American never imagined that he would eventually be globe-trotting it solo through 34 countries before settling down in Penang for the next 20 years of his life.
Raymer has a long list of writing credits that would impress even the most prolific writers. Since putting down his roots in Penang in 1985 he has written 200 articles, 80 short stories in such publications as Literary Review, Going Places, Silver Kris, Far East Traveler, The Expat, and Reader’s Digest. He has also written a play, an adaptation of his short story Neighbours – selected to be taught for SPM Literature in 2008, four novels and four screenplays. In addition, Raymer had taught creative writing for ten years at Universiti Sains Malaysia, and is now teaching at Unimas in Kuching.

Review of "Lovers & Strangers Revisited" by Georgette Tan
"Take Two" section, pg. 17, Borneo Post newspaper, Sunday 20 May 2007.
A funny thing happened when I organised our last literary event - Idle Nights at MOJO. A friend in KL heard that American expat writer Robert Raymer will be reading for us. She was terribly excited over the fact that one of her favourite authors is living in her hometown, and at the same time, terribly disappointed that she won't be here during the event.
